Six people have been arrested in Alicante after the Guardia Civil dismantled a network dedicated to the fraudulent export of stolen vehicles to third countries. The operation began on 19 November 2025 as part of routine customs controls.

Officers from the Fiscal and Border Analysis and Investigation Unit at the Port of Alicante detected a significant increase in vehicles with temporary number plates being prepared for shipment to Algeria. Further checks revealed irregularities in the documentation of several cars.

Investigators established that the vehicles had been stolen in Morocco and brought into Europe, where their paperwork was allegedly altered. False invoices and official certificates were used to give the cars an apparent European origin before they were exported to Algeria.

Seven vehicles of various makes and models were seized before shipment and placed at the disposal of the courts. Once proceedings are complete, the cars will be returned to their rightful owners. The Guardia Civil has stressed the importance of strict customs controls and international cooperation in tackling vehicle trafficking and protecting legitimate trade.
