Firefighters have extinguished a blaze at an abandoned two-storey house in Pilar de la Horadada, in Alicante province. The property was left completely affected by fire and smoke.
The incident happened in the early hours of Monday on Maestro Marqués Street. Emergency services received the alert at 01.01am and crews remained at the scene until around 07.21am, according to the Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium.
As well as tackling the flames, crews worked to prevent the fire spreading to neighbouring buildings. Once the blaze had been brought under control, they used mechanical ventilation to clear smoke from the area.
A command unit and a heavy urban fire engine were deployed from Torrevieja, with a sergeant, a corporal and four firefighters involved in the operation.
