Three men have been arrested in Cartagena on suspicion of drug trafficking after police uncovered alleged illegal sales at a cannabis association in the Ciudad Jardín area.

The National Police began investigating following numerous complaints from neighbours, who reported a steady flow of visitors and growing concerns about safety. Officers said the premises were located close to areas frequented by children, including parks, a dance school and a sports hall.

During two searches – one at the association’s premises and another at the home of its alleged manager – officers seized 403 grammes of hashish, 399 grammes of marijuana buds prepared for sale, 360 Rivotril tablets and 1,515 euros in cash. The three suspects have been brought before a judge for possible precautionary measures.

Cartagena’s Local Police Environmental Unit has also sealed the premises, citing safety breaches including a lack of fire extinguishers, no proper evacuation routes and electrical faults that could have posed a serious fire risk.
