A man has died after falling from a building in Playa Honda, Cartagena, on Thursday afternoon, shortly after allegedly assaulting his partner, according to the Guardia Civil.
Emergency services received several calls at around 3pm reporting an assault inside a property. Two ambulances were dispatched, one providing basic life support and the other a Mobile Emergency Unit. Officers from Cartagena’s Local Police were the first to arrive at the scene following the man’s death.
The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation into the incident. Gender-based violence is the main line of inquiry, as there had been previous reports involving the couple. Sources confirmed that a restraining order had been in place against the man, although it had expired.
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and take statements from witnesses to clarify the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
