Two brothers are facing eight years in prison accused of preparing illegal drugs at a house in Torrevieja and selling them through a local greengrocer’s shop.

According to the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community, the trial is scheduled to begin at 9.30am on Tuesday at the Eleventh Section of Alicante Provincial Court, based in Elche. Prosecutors are also seeking a five-year sentence for a third man who allegedly acted as a lookout and contacted potential buyers.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office says a Guardia Civil investigation found the three men were part of an organised group specialising in drug trafficking. The drugs were allegedly prepared at the home of one of the brothers in Torrevieja and then sold at a greengrocer’s where he worked.

While the two brothers are accused of preparing and selling the substances, the third defendant is said to have carried out surveillance duties and arranged meetings with buyers at a nearby café. The prosecution is seeking eight years for each brother for membership of a criminal group and offences against public health, and five years for the third man on similar charges.
