Pilar de la Horadada has introduced a new intelligent surveillance system covering its coastline, Torre de la Horadada and nearby urbanisations. The project, supported by more than 141,000 euros from the Generalitat Valenciana, expands the town’s existing monitoring network.

Ten high-performance video surveillance cameras have been installed at key points along the rambla that crosses the municipality. The system, which already includes 63 cameras and 12 number plate readers, can analyse traffic flows and read vehicle registrations.

According to the regional Minister for Innovation, Marián Cano, the technology will not only help to reduce congestion and accidents, but also allow real-time monitoring of the rambla. This is particularly important during episodes of torrential rain, when water levels can rise अचानक.

The data collected will also support better planning during large events and peak tourist seasons, helping to allocate security, cleaning and transport services more efficiently. The council expects the system to reduce vandalism and cut emergency response times by between 20% and 30%.
