Torrevieja Council has launched a new educational programme aimed at encouraging healthy, responsible and balanced use of digital technology among primary school pupils. The initiative, known as Cibersabios, is being delivered during the 2025 to 2026 school year through the council’s Community Prevention Unit.

The programme consists of ninety-minute workshops led by specialist professionals and is taking place in classrooms across all sixteen primary schools in Torrevieja. In its first phase, it focuses on Year Six pupils, reaching a total of forty-three classes, with plans to extend the scheme to Year Five and secondary education in future years. The first workshop is scheduled for Friday 27 February at CEIP Inmaculada.

Councillor for Health Prevention and Promotion, Rosa Cañón, has said the aim is to give children practical tools to build a healthy relationship with technology from an early age. The sessions cover topics such as screen time management, digital safety, emotional self-regulation, online respect, and awareness of risks including dependency, cyberbullying and sleep disruption.
