Staff at an opticians in La Marina, in the Elche district, have been victims of a violent robbery after an organised group targeted the shop and stole eight pairs of sunglasses valued at around 2,000 euros.

According to investigators, two women entered the premises to distract one of the employees, while two men went straight to a sunglasses display and took the items. When a worker realised what was happening and tried to stop them, the suspects reacted violently, struggling with her and attempting to knock her to the ground.

As another employee partially blocked the exit, the group pushed both staff and the door with force before escaping. No serious injuries were reported.

The Guardia Civil launched a search operation and later located the getaway vehicle at a campsite in Guardamar del Segura. Four suspects, two women and two men aged between 22 and 41, were arrested. Officers recovered one pair of sunglasses worth about 300 euros, which has been returned. All four have been remanded in custody on suspicion of robbery with violence and intimidation.
