Storm Marta has remained over the Comunitat Valenciana through the weekend, bringing very strong winds and unsettled weather. Gusts of up to 125 kilometres per hour were recorded between Saturday and Sunday, prompting multiple yellow warnings from Spain’s State Meteorological Agency, Aemet.

For Monday, yellow wind alerts continue across inland parts of Castellón, Valencia and Alicante, except for the south of Alicante province, as well as along the northern Alicante coast. Inland Castellón and northern inland Valencia could see gusts of up to 80 km/h, while other inland areas and the northern Alicante coast may experience gusts reaching 70 km/h.

Winds are expected to blow mainly from the west. Skies will be mostly cloudy, with the chance of light rain early on, easing into broken cloud during the morning. Later in the day, further weak and scattered rain is possible, mainly in the northern third of the region. Snow levels inland in the northern half are forecast to sit between 1,200 and 1,400 metres.

Temperatures will be milder by day, with highs of around 21 degrees in both Alicante city and València. Despite the warmer conditions, the risk of forest fires has eased and is now classed as high in some inland areas, and low to medium elsewhere, according to regional emergency services.
