Torrevieja’s Centre for Tourism hosted the prize ceremony for the Second nos vamos de tapas contest this morning at ten o’clock. Alicia Arenas Mercader, director of the centre and secretary of the jury, read the results after the envelope was opened. Winners were announced for two categories: Best Traditional Tapas and Best Innovative Tapas.

Traditional Tapas went to Restaurante La Mar de Bien for chipirones stuffed with seafood in American sauce with crispy leeks. The judges praised the dish for its flavour and presentation. The Innovative Tapas prize was disqualified because the winner was not present at the announcement, and the prize for that category has been annulled and reserved for future editions.

A draw among participating establishments named La Cantina Food and Drinks as the winner of a trip worth €1,000. The formal prize-giving will take place next Thursday at Bodegas Vega, where the laureates will be publicly recognised and toasted to the success of the competition’s second edition. The Torrevieja and Comarca Association of Hospitality thanks all participants and invites continued support for the creativity and flavour of local cuisine in future editions.
