Locals will honour Cloe, the fifteen-year-old killed in Orihuela Costa, on the crime’s first anniversary. The memorial is due to take place this Sunday at eleven thirty in La Florida Park, in the ER two area, and is open to all. Attendees are invited to bring a flat painted stone to form a memorial mosaic on the bench dedicated to Cloe.

The event will feature the reading of the Anniversary Manifesto, designed to remember Cloe with love and to name the truth without filters. Organisers are also calling for changes to the Law on Minors, arguing current penalties do not reflect the severity of crimes carried out with extreme violence, planning and brutality. The manifesto includes a direct appeal to politicians and lawmakers to listen.

The murder case is currently in court, with Cloe’s ex‑boyfriend and a school friend, both aged seventeen, charged with murder. The prosecution is seeking the maximum penalty available for minors — eight years in a closed centre. Although both defendants have admitted the crime, prosecutors say no day should be deducted from the sentence, and a verdict is awaited.

Authorities maintain the crime is a form of gender‑based violence linked to the breakup, with investigators citing alleged drug debts as part of the context. The autopsy reported multiple knife wounds to the neck and significant haemorrhage, which proved fatal. Cloe’s family say the community must come together to uphold respect, seek help when needed, and reject all violence; the park memorial will be part of that message.
