In a significant operation, seven individuals have been arrested in the towns of Denia and Els Poblets, Alicante, accused of being part of a criminal organisation dedicated to human trafficking. The operation resulted in the liberation of eleven women who were victims of sexual exploitation. Law enforcement conducted five house searches in both locations, confiscating nearly fifty thousand euros in cash, one hundred grams of cocaine, three vehicles, electronic devices, and accounting books reflecting profits and debts imposed on the victims.

The investigation began in November twenty twenty-four after officers identified a potential trafficking victim at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. Following her report, investigators traced a group based in Denia that was targeting women from Colombia, exploiting their vulnerability and economic needs. The organisation financed the victims’ travel to Spain through exploitative loans, creating a fictitious debt that the women were forced to repay through sexual activities.

In addition to sexually exploiting the victims, those arrested managed the profits and the so-called ‘debts’ in accounting books seized during the raids. They face serious charges, including human trafficking, membership in a criminal group, offences against public health and workers’ rights, facilitating irregular migration, and money laundering.

This investigation was coordinated between the Guardia Civil and the Policía Nacional, involving units from Madrid and Alicante, as well as the Provincial Brigade of Foreigners and Borders in Valencia and the Local Brigade of Foreigners and Borders in Denia.
