A suspected food poisoning incident at the Traíña Hotel in Lo Pagán, San Pedro del Pinatar, has affected at least ten guests, with local health authorities estimating nearly thirty individuals involved. This was confirmed by sources from the Regional Health Department on Saturday. Following the alerts, food safety technicians collected samples for analysis, in collaboration with the hotel, to determine whether the illness originated from contaminated products or poor food handling practices.

According to hotel management, initial suspicions focus on mushrooms or eggs consumed by the affected guests. They noted that potentially hazardous items have already been removed from the kitchen. The hotel has received clearance to resume normal cooking operations, having detected no immediate health risks. Their commitment to customer safety, particularly through strict hygiene protocols and regular audits, remains a priority.

One individual requiring medical attention had mild symptoms but did not need to be admitted to hospital. Five other guests went to Los Arcos hospital independently; one has already been discharged while the others are still under observation. Several affected individuals were participating in a gathering over the weekend linked to Neocatechumenal communities from parishes in Murcia.

If confirmed, this incident would mark the second food poisoning case reported in a hotel in the Murcia region in recent months. A prior outbreak at the Cavanna Hotel in August affected one hundred and ninety people, with twenty-one requiring hospitalisation due to a salmonella outbreak. Local authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and the hotel remains dedicated to transparency and cooperation with ongoing investigations.
