Emergency services have successfully rescued a fifty-five-year-old cyclist following an incident in Perín, a locality within Cartagena. The cyclist fell approximately two to three metres into a difficult-to-reach area. The call to the Emergency Coordination Centre was received at nine fifty-six this morning, reporting the accident.

In response, firefighters from the Fire Extinguishing Service and Civil Protection of the Cartagena City Council sought assistance from the Air Rescue Brigade of the Firefighting and Rescue Consortium. A helicopter from the Directorate General for Citizen Safety and Emergencies was dispatched to the scene.

Once on-site, the air rescue team evacuated the injured cyclist, transporting him to a more accessible location. There, he was met by medical personnel from a Mobile Emergency Unit operated by the Management of Urgencies and Health Emergencies.

After receiving initial care, the cyclist was taken to Santa Lucía University Hospital in Cartagena for further treatment. Thankfully, the swift response of the emergency services ensured that he received the attention he needed promptly.
