The Town Council of Torrevieja has announced that it is intensifying its pest control operations across the municipality, with a special focus on combating the proliferation of mosquitoes. The Health Department is closely coordinating with CTL Environmental Health, a specialised company, to implement daily treatments that utilise both adulticidal and larvicidal methods. These treatments use products that are respectful of the environment and local wildlife and primarily focus on areas where water accumulates, such as wetlands, drainage channels, salt flats, and stagnant water sites.

These preventive measures are essential to diminish the insect population and mitigate the discomfort they cause to local residents, as well as to prevent potential health risks. The council emphasises the importance of consistent treatments and the vital role of community collaboration in controlling mosquito breeding sites.

Residents are reminded to prevent water accumulation in gardens, plant pots, buckets, fountains, or unmaintained swimming pools, as these locations can easily become breeding grounds for mosquitoes. The use of biological and ecologically sustainable products aligns with Torrevieja’s commitment to environmental protection and public health.

The pest control activities are conducted throughout the year but are intensified during warmer months or after periods of rainfall when conditions become conducive to mosquito reproduction.
