The Torrevieja City Council has set the budget for twenty twenty-six at one hundred and eighty-seven point seven million euros, as announced by Mayor Eduardo Dolón and Councillor of Economy and Finance Domingo Paredes. This budget reflects an eleven per cent increase from the current year’s budget of one hundred and sixty-eight million euros. The mayor described the budget as realistic and responsible, emphasising a commitment to urban and social transformation without raising taxes.

The budget allocates over eighty-three million euros for current expenditure on goods and services, indicating a five point nine seven per cent increase primarily due to rising landfill costs. This section includes major municipal contracts for waste collection, public transport, and cultural programmes. Notably, seven million euros are earmarked for the new public transport service.

Significant investments include two point two six million euros for the renovation of parks and gardens, with five hundred thousand euros allocated for the new Alto de la Casilla park. Additional funds will be directed towards improving local policing and investments in safety infrastructure. The budget also contains provisions for social support, with ten point eight million euros designated for aid to various entities and individuals, including local charities.

Regarding projected income, the council anticipates collecting sixty-one point four million euros from direct taxes, alongside various other revenue streams. After allowing for capital grants and credit operations, forty-six point one million euros are earmarked for investments, marking a notable increase of forty-four point zero three per cent compared to the previous year. The council aims to implement major infrastructure projects to improve urban mobility and energy efficiency.
