Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport has closed September with one million nine hundred and seven thousand two hundred and seventy-four passengers, reflecting a growth of five point nine per cent compared to the same month in two thousand twenty-four. This solidifies its position as one of the leading tourist gateways in the Mediterranean. International traffic, which dominates the terminal’s activities, experienced a significant increase of eight per cent, with one million six hundred and eighty-five thousand four hundred and sixty-two travellers recorded. Conversely, domestic traffic saw a drop, reaching two hundred and twenty thousand two hundred and five passengers, an eight per cent decline from the previous year.

By nationality, the United Kingdom led the international traffic with six hundred and fifty-three thousand five hundred and twenty-two travellers, followed by Germany with one hundred and eighteen thousand seven hundred and eighty-three, the Netherlands with one hundred and ten thousand one hundred and sixty-six, Belgium with ninety-two thousand four hundred and thirty-nine, and France with eighty-nine thousand seven hundred and thirty.

The number of flights also reached a record in September, with eleven thousand six hundred and ninety-one operations, a four point seven per cent increase compared to two thousand twenty-four. Year-to-date, more than fifteen million three hundred thousand passengers have travelled through the airport, an eight point seven per cent rise over the same period last year. Over the first nine months of this year, ninety-five thousand five hundred and twenty-four flights have been operated, representing an eight point five per cent increase from the previous year.

The International Airport of Murcia recorded one hundred and twelve thousand five hundred and seven passengers in September, marking a two point five per cent increase compared to September twenty twenty-four. The month also saw a rise in international traffic and flight operations.

On a national scale, airports operated by Aena in Spain recorded thirty-five million seven hundred thousand passengers in September, a two point seven per cent increase compared to two thousand twenty-four. They managed two hundred and ninety-nine thousand two hundred and ninety-two operations, which is a two point four per cent rise, and handled one hundred and thirty-two thousand nine hundred and five tonnes of cargo, marking a year-on-year increase of nine point nine per cent.
