According to the Spanish State Meteorological Agency, heavy rain is expected to begin in Vega Baja this afternoon and persist throughout the long holiday weekend for the ninth of October and the Feast of Our Lady of the Pillar. The arrival of a DANA, or isolated depression at high levels, will heavily influence the weather during this period. If forecasts hold true, the entire comarca is likely to experience rain throughout this time.

The DANA is forecasted to develop over the Iberian Peninsula, with maritime winds threatening to bring substantial rainfall to Vega Baja. In light of its anticipated impact, the AEMET has given this weather system the name Alice, a designation previously reserved for storms and hurricanes, now also applied to particularly destructive DANAs.

Due to the forecasted persistent rainfall, the AEMET has issued an orange alert for both Thursday and Friday, with potential accumulations of forty litres per square metre in one hour, and one hundred litres per square metre over twelve hours. The alert may extend into Saturday, but will transition to a yellow alert.

On Thursday, cloudy conditions with moderate rain are expected, increasing in intensity throughout the afternoon. Temperatures will drop, remaining below twenty-five degrees Celsius, with minimums around seventeen to nineteen degrees Celsius. Generalised rain is predicted on Friday, likely being the rainiest day of this episode. Rainfall will continue over the weekend, though expected to be lighter, with authorities advising close monitoring of updated forecasts from the AEMET and official sources such as Civil Protection or emergency services.
