A thirty-one-year-old Swedish man has tragically passed away from severe injuries sustained in a hit-and-run incident that followed a mobile phone theft in Torrevieja. The incident occurred early on Friday morning, at approximately four oh five, on Calle Pedro Lorca near the intersection with Calle Heraclio. The Spanish Civil Guard is leading the investigation into the violent theft.

The victim was initially treated at the scene by emergency services due to the severity of his injuries. He had been walking back home with a companion when a vehicle with four or five occupants stopped beside them. One assailant reportedly asked for directions, and as the victim checked his mobile phone, the device was stolen. In an attempt to thwart the theft, the man intercepted the vehicle, which then struck him and fled the scene.

Witness accounts indicate that he suffered serious injuries upon colliding with metallic waste containers. Following the incident, he was taken to the University Hospital of Torrevieja before being transferred to the General Hospital of Elche, where he sadly died on Tuesday after spending three days in a coma. According to reports, the last location of his stolen iPhone was registered in the city of Alicante.

Having resided in Spain for three years, the victim was an entrepreneur who recently opened a restaurant named Smashed Burger in Torrevieja. His girlfriend expressed her heartbreak, describing him as full of life, dreams, and love for his family and friends. She is now seeking help for the repatriation of his body back to Sweden. This incident marks the second violent death in the same area in recent months.
