Emergency services responded to a house fire in Los Barreros, Cartagena, on Monday afternoon, which tragically resulted in the death of a fifty-two-year-old man. The local police received a call at approximately two forty-five, reporting significant smoke coming from a residence on Isabel la Católica street, with witnesses suggesting there might be a person trapped inside the home.

Upon arrival, emergency responders, including local police, a mobile emergency unit, an ambulance from Civil Protection, and firefighters from the municipality, found the man at the scene. The firefighters were the first to reach him and immediately performed initial resuscitation attempts, which were continued by paramedics. Despite their efforts, they were unable to save the victim, who exhibited symptoms of smoke inhalation.

In addition to the deceased, emergency services also attended to family members and transported a seventy-six-year-old woman to Santa Lucía Hospital in Cartagena for smoke inhalation treatment. As of now, the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, with authorities working to determine what initiated the blaze.
