The Council of Torrevieja has formalised a new contract aimed at enhancing the cleaning, maintenance, and repair of public toilets located on the municipality’s beaches. The contract has been awarded to EULEN Centro Especial de Empleo S.A. and spans a duration of four years, amounting to a total of nine hundred and ninety-five thousand two hundred and sixty-nine euros, with the possibility of an additional one-year extension.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in improving the quality and safety of the beaches. It guarantees the availability of toilets every day of the year from nine in the morning to eight in the evening, whereas previously, services were only offered during specific seasons, such as Easter and summer.

Councillor for Beaches, Antonio Vidal, noted that the contract will increase the number of available toilets, expanding from nine to twenty-two units, which will include both permanent wooden toilets and new self-cleaning facilities located in key areas such as Waldo Calero Square, Juan Aparicio Promenade, Playa del Cura, and La Mata Squares.

The agreement encompasses not only regular cleaning and maintenance but also construction, plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, painting, and urgent repairs, supported by a standby service for incidents affecting safety or hygiene. Antonio Vidal emphasised the council’s commitment to ensuring that visitors to the beaches have the highest guarantees, enhancing Torrevieja’s image as a premier tourist destination.
