The Guardia Civil has opened investigations against a thirty-one-year-old driver involved in a fatal accident on the AP-Seven motorway in Los Alcázares, Murcia. The tragic incident, which occurred on the night of the sixth of September, led to the death of a twenty-nine-year-old motorcyclist. Authorities attribute serious driving offences to the driver, including homicide through negligence and violating road safety laws due to exceeding the legal alcohol limit.

On arrival at the scene, officers from the Traffic Detachment of the Guardia Civil discovered the deceased motorcyclist and identified the car involved in the collision. The driver was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of zero point sixty-eight milligrams per litre in breath and tested positive for THC, the active component of cannabis.

The law stipulates severe penalties for driving under the influence, with homicide by negligence punishable by one to four years in prison, along with a driving ban lasting from one to six years. Violations of driving regulations can incur prison sentences ranging from three to six months and fines extending from six to twelve months.

In a separate but related event, a passenger from the vehicle was arrested for serious disobedience after allegedly threatening police officers regulating traffic. This individual ignored safety instructions, jeopardising the safety of others on the road. Following this incident, authorities underscore the critical risks of driving after consuming alcohol or drugs, urging everyone to avoid driving under the influence.
