The Valencian government has launched a new grant initiative, providing an initial allocation of thirteen million one hundred and sixty-six thousand six hundred euros to enhance accessibility in residential buildings. Funded entirely by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda, this measure is part of the State Plan for Access to Housing for the years two thousand and twenty-two to two thousand and twenty-five. The grants aim to facilitate the installation of lifts, stair lifts, ramps, automation systems, and other elements ensuring accessible pathways from public areas to homes.

These grants are available to homeowner communities, associations of communities, individual property owners, housing cooperatives, and, in specific cases, tenants with the express consent of landlords. Eligible buildings must have been constructed before two thousand and six and must have an Evaluation Report of the Building, which serves as a guideline for subsidised activities. Works may have commenced after the first of January two thousand and twenty-four, provided they are not completed at the time of application.

The eligible expenses encompass the cost of construction works, professional fees, technical reports, projects, and unrecoverable taxes. The maximum amount of aid will depend on the percentage of eligible expenditure, which could increase by twenty percentage points in buildings occupied by persons with reduced mobility or individuals over sixty-five years old. Additionally, the initial allocation of thirteen point one million euros may be increased by up to twenty-five million euros through a resolution from the Vice-Presidency and Ministry of Social Services, Equality, should funds be available.

In the previous call for applications, made on the thirtieth of October two thousand and twenty-four, the initial funding of thirteen million fifty-six thousand euros was raised to fifteen million four hundred and sixteen thousand euros to accommodate a maximum number of applications, which totalled nine hundred and sixty-eight. With this new edition, the government hopes to extend coverage and expedite the comprehensive rehabilitation of buildings, especially as one third of the housing stock will reach fifty years of age in this decade, with more than half expected to reach that milestone in the following two decades.
