Rosario Martínez Chazarra, the Councillor for Tourism in Torrevieja, has announced a comprehensive programme of events to celebrate World Tourism Day, taking place from the twenty-sixth to the twenty-eighth of September. The celebrations will showcase a variety of cultural, educational, ecotourism, and gastronomic activities accessible to everyone.

The festivities will kick off on Friday, September twenty-sixth, with guided tours of the urban centre at ten and eleven o’clock in the morning, offered in Spanish, English, and French. Interested participants must register at the Tourism Office. Saturday features a packed schedule, including a family theatrical route titled “The Salty History of the Lagoons” at the La Mata Natural Park for children aged seven to twelve, and a guided visit to the Natural History Museum.

In addition, there will be several engaging talks throughout the day, focusing on local wildlife and ecological themes. The city’s museums will also open their doors for free from ten to one o’clock in the afternoon, providing access to various local attractions including the Floating Museums and the Sea and Salt Museum. Saturday is particularly special as it marks International Tapas Day in Torrevieja, organised by the local hospitality association.

The weekend will conclude with an ecotourism route titled “Vineyards and Salt”, allowing participants to explore the beautiful La Mata Natural Park. Those interested in photography will also have the chance to enter the “Torrevieja DMT25” photo competition. Martínez emphasised that this initiative underlines Torrevieja’s commitment to sustainable, cultural tourism, highlighting its rich natural, historical, and gastronomic heritage.
