The Civil Guard has discovered possible human remains at a property in the Camposol urbanisation in Mazarrón, which began examination last Friday as part of an investigation into the disappearance of two Ecuadorian men, José Patricio Chango, aged forty-three, and his housemate and colleague, Edwin Guillermo Cambal, aged thirty-two. Investigators will now conduct identification tests to determine if the remains belong to the missing men, with DNA tests expected to play a pivotal role in the process.

The families, represented by lawyer Eloy Ferrández, have been pushing for continued efforts in the search for the two men, who vanished on the sixteenth of April. When communications were lost, loved ones initially thought it was due to the Easter holiday. However, their concerns grew as the lack of contact continued into the following week, prompting them to notify the Civil Guard.

Shortly after the report, the vehicle belonging to one of the missing men was captured on security cameras at a petrol station in Fuente Álamo, although it was driven by three unknown individuals at the time. The families sought assistance from the Ecuadorian consulate and conducted searches in Camposol and the Country Club urbanisation, particularly at the site where mobile signals were last detected for the men on that fateful day in April.

Family members reported that the security footage from the Camposol petrol station showed the two Ecuadorians at approximately seven thirty in the evening on the sixteenth of April, putting their tools away before getting into José Patricio’s car, after which they went missing. As the investigation unfolds, authorities have detained at least one person connected to the case, described as a man who did not have prior contact with either of the missing individuals.
