The Marine Surveillance Service of the Generalitat Valenciana has successfully removed several illegal fishing lines located off the Mil Palmeras beach in Pilar de la Horadada. Such equipment can endanger marine animals, particularly turtles, which can become ensnared, while also obstructing the safe navigation of vessels.

The discarded lines have been deposited at the clean point of the Fishermen’s Guild in Torrevieja, where the base port of the surveillance service is situated. The Marine Surveillance Service plays a vital role not only in preventing anchoring over seagrass meadows but also in removing floating objects that can impact marine life and navigation.

In addition to these efforts, the service conducts thorough monitoring of marine biodiversity and provides support to environmental agents from the Ministry of the Environment and the Conselleria of the Environment. They also collaborate with researchers, the Civil Guard, and local police, while offering assistance regarding maritime security issues.
