The Guardia Civil has clarified details regarding a brutal attack on a fifty-eight year old woman in her home in Torrevieja, which occurred on Sunday, June twenty-ninth. Following the incident, a nineteen year old suspect from Morocco has been arrested in connection with the violent robbery. The attack left the woman with serious injuries requiring her immediate hospitalisation at the Hospital Universitario de Torrevieja.

Investigation into the incident began promptly after patrols responded to reports of the assault. Officers determined that the victim had been followed from a supermarket to her residence, where she was assaulted by the suspect. Security camera footage contributed significantly to the identification of the attacker, who was subsequently apprehended during a surveillance operation.

In addition to the violent robbery, authorities received another complaint regarding the theft of a gold chain using the snatch method, also linked to the same individual. The successful identification and arrest was facilitated by coordinated effort from the local police under the ‘Plan Mayor de Seguridad’, designed to safeguard the elderly population.

The Guardia Civil has reported that the victim suffered a grave stab wound to her abdomen, alongside other minor injuries from the attack. The police continue to urge vigilance in the community and are dedicated to enhancing the safety and security of older adults to prevent similar incidents in the future.
