The Asociación de Empresarios de Hostelería de Torrevieja y Comarca has announced that registration is now open for the International Tapas Day 2025. The event is scheduled for Saturday, the twenty-seventh of September, coinciding with World Tourism Day. This year introduces the TAPA MAKRO contest, which requires participants to create a tapa with artichoke heart as a fundamental ingredient.

Participating establishments must serve a minimum of two different tapas with a drink for a set price of three euros and fifty cents during the designated hours of one o’clock to four o’clock in the afternoon and eight o’clock in the evening to eleven fifty-nine at night. One of these tapas must be the TAPA MAKRO.

Makro will supply products to aid in the creation of the TAPA MAKRO at participating venues, and a jury will judge the entries based on flavour, originality, and preparation. Prizes include a first prize worth four hundred euros and a second prize worth three hundred euros, both redeemable at Makro. Winners will be announced on Monday, the twenty-ninth of September.

Only member establishments may participate, and compliance with the TAPA MAKRO requirement is mandatory for competition entry. Late submissions will not be accepted after the deadline of Wednesday, the third of September. For more information, visit the official event page.
