Benidorm is preparing to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of its Pride event from the first to the seventh of September. This year, the event, held under the theme ‘More Pride than Ever!’, is expected to attract over twenty thousand attendees, primarily international and national tourists. The official presentation of the event included local council members, Ángela Zaragozí and Jesús Carrobles, alongside organiser Santos Torres, who emphasised municipal support and the event’s establishment as part of the annual LGBTQ+ activities calendar in the city.

The festivities will commence on Monday, first of September, with parties at local venues. Official events will begin on Wednesday, third of September, starting with the ‘Pink Party’ at Ku Playa. On Thursday, fourth of September, a ‘Pool Party’ will take place at Marina Resort, alongside the free ‘Ñ. Divas Party’ at Julio Iglesias Auditorium, featuring twenty-six national artists. The iconic ‘White Party’ is scheduled for Friday, fifth of September, at the same venue. The most anticipated event, however, will be the grand parade on Saturday, sixth of September, which will traverse the centre of Benidorm from four thirty in the afternoon, showcasing over twenty floats and performances by artists such as Kuve and Kingdom from Benidorm Fest twenty twenty-five.

To complement the festivities, the Department of Equality has created a cultural agenda to reinforce the event’s advocacy nature. An outdoor exhibition titled ‘Un altra història. Referents valencians de resistència LGTBIQ+’, featuring historical figures like Manuela Trasobares and Joan Monleón, is currently accessible in the plaza of SS.MM. Los Reyes de España. From the twenty-fifth of August to the twelfth of September, the Art Space of the Town Hall will host the exhibition ‘Cuerpos visibles, arte y deseo’, displaying works from LGBTQ+ artists such as Alfredo Furiati and Oleksandr Blybshev. Additional activities include a book presentation on the second of September at the Municipal Library and a screening of ‘¿Quién quiere casarse con un astronauta?’ on the fourth of September, featuring a discussion.

Organisers and local authorities have highlighted the event’s economic and social impact on the city, alongside its potential to position Benidorm as a leading LGBTQ+ destination in Europe. Councillor Jesús Carrobles noted that despite having fewer resources than other national pride events, Benidorm Pride achieves greater visibility thanks to the efforts of the organising team and local support.
