The National Police has arrested a woman for assaulting a doctor while receiving treatment in the emergency department of Molina de Segura hospital. The incident took place on the twenty-sixth of July at around eleven o’clock in the evening. The arrest followed a formal complaint lodged by the doctor who reported being attacked by the patient during his shift.

The investigation uncovered that the woman, who was heavily intoxicated, became hostile toward hospital staff, hurling insults and making threats. When the doctor attempted to intervene, she struck him in the face, causing minor injuries.

Following her identification by authorities, the woman was apprehended by National Police officers. The judicial authority has sentenced her to six months in prison for the assault of a public servant while they were executing their official duties.

It is essential to highlight that physical aggression or severe intimidation against healthcare professionals in their public assistance roles is classified as an offence against authority under the Penal Code. The National Police also has a healthcare police liaison to provide consultation and support for self-protection measures within the healthcare sector.
