Authorities in the Murcia region are currently investigating two disturbing incidents of animal cruelty that have shocked the local community. In La Tercia, it has been reported that a man in a high-end vehicle abandoned a cat on the road, only to run over it multiple times, resulting in the animal’s death. The Civil Guard’s Nature Protection Service, known as Seprona, confirmed these horrific details after the suspect was identified through community assistance.

Additionally, another investigation has emerged in San Pedro del Pinatar, where local police alerted Seprona about a potential case of animal neglect involving three dogs suffering from severe malnutrition. Following their investigation, the officers found the dogs in deplorable health conditions, exhibiting signs of significant underweight and skeletal deformities indicative of prolonged neglect.

The Civil Guard coordinated with an authorised animal rescue service to remove the three dogs from the property. The owner is now being investigated for animal neglect, with charges being pursued for failing to provide adequate care, nutrition, and veterinary attention for the animals.

Both cases highlight ongoing efforts by the Civil Guard to ensure the welfare of animals and legally address acts of cruelty within the region. Those implicated in these incidents may face severe penalties, including fines and restrictions on future animal ownership.
