Local police in Cartagena have taken action against the owner of a van after four dogs were found inside the vehicle, unattended while parked in the sun. The incident occurred on Monday, when a concerned citizen reported the situation, prompting police to respond immediately.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the van parked with the windows barely down, and the dogs inside were experiencing rapid breathing, indicative of possible dehydration due to the extreme heat. The situation raised significant alarm regarding the welfare of the animals.

Using municipal emergency services, the police were able to locate the owner of the van, who was registered in the neighbouring town of Alguazas. Upon the owner’s arrival at the scene, officers confirmed that the dogs were in good condition, which alleviated some immediate concerns.

However, the owner was still fined for leaving the animals unsupervised in an unsuitable environment, without adequate ventilation or the necessary temperature control. This incident serves as a critical reminder of the dangers posed to pets when left in vehicles during hot weather.
