The General Directorate of Traffic has forecasted three hundred and twenty-five thousand two hundred and forty-eight movements on the roads of the Murcia Region for the upcoming August fifteenth celebration, known as the Assumption of the Virgin. This special traffic operation will run from three o’clock this afternoon until Sunday, with around thirteen percent of August’s anticipated traffic expected within this period.

To manage the influx, additional control, regulation, and monitoring services will be established by the Civil Guard’s Traffic Group, which will mobilise two hundred and twenty-two agents. They will also receive support from the Levante Traffic Management Centre and Variable Message Panels on key routes. This year’s operation will include fixed speed control points, stretch monitoring, six mobile radar units, as well as aerial support including helicopters and drones.

The most congested areas are predicted to be the A-seven road at kilometre five hundred and sixty-seven heading towards Algeciras, and on the way back, the A-seven at kilometre five hundred and seventy towards Tarragona, alongside the A-thirty at point one hundred and thirty-six point five towards Albacete.

Meanwhile, the region has seen a decrease in road traffic incidents with victims, with a drop of zero point forty-two percent from January first to August twelfth, compared to the same period last year. Traffic fatalities have fallen by thirty-one percent, and hospitalisations have decreased by nineteen percent. Of the sixteen drivers who died on intercity routes, fourteen have been checked for substance consumption, with forty-three percent showing positive results for alcohol or drugs.
