The Guardia Civil is investigating six residents of Mazarrón for constructing on land classified as special protection. These actions may constitute a crime against land planning and urbanism, as well as the protection of historical heritage and the environment. Earlier this year, specialists from the Seprona unit conducted inspections aimed at identifying illegal constructions on protected terrains.

The inspections revealed six developments lacking legal approval. Among these, authorities found a single family home under construction, the renovation and expansion of an existing house, and modifications to land to establish a camping site. Additional illegal activities included land clearing for agricultural purposes and the extraction of gravel for road construction.

Agents determined that these actions violated local planning regulations, rendering the affected lands incompatible with the Municipal General Plan of Mazarrón. The constructions were situated in areas marked with multiple protections, including classifications for Cultural Assets, landscape preservation, archaeological significance, and mining risk.

None of the constructions are eligible for legalisation, and the actions fall under serious violations of Law thirteenth of two thousand and fifteen, dated thirty March, concerning Territorial and Urban Planning in the Region of Murcia. The operation has led to the investigation of the six promoters responsible for the unauthorised construction works.
