A sixty-five-year-old cyclist was rushed to hospital after suffering a severe allergic reaction, likely caused by a wasp sting, while cycling in Formentera del Segura last Sunday morning. The local police were alerted following a call to the emergency services, which reported a cyclist had fallen in the area.

Upon their arrival, officers found the man experiencing significant difficulty breathing. They swiftly began life-saving measures to assist him. At that moment, two off-duty doctors happened to be passing by and joined the effort to provide medical assistance. Together, they managed to stabilise the patient using rescue ventilation and prepared an automated external defibrillator in case it was required.

Shortly after, a unit from the emergency medical service, the SAMU, arrived at the scene and took over care of the individual. They transported him, now stable, to the University Hospital of Torrevieja for further treatment.

This incident highlights the importance of quick response and teamwork in emergency situations, especially in cases involving severe allergic reactions.
