The Torrevieja City Council’s contracting committee has recommended COBRA INSTALACIONES Y SERVICIOS, SAU as the successful bidder for the extensive renovation of the La Plasa municipal building. The company has submitted a bid of eight million two hundred and fifty-one thousand three hundred and fifty-two euros and fifty cents, which marks a decrease of eight point twelve percent from the initial estimated budget of eight million nine hundred and eighty thousand one hundred and thirty-one euros and forty-seven cents, including VAT. They have proposed a fourteen-month execution period, reducing the timeframe by fifteen weeks.

The selected proposal received the highest score based on both technical and economic criteria among ten participating companies. Once the required documentation is validated, the Local Government Board will proceed to officially award the contract. The renovation will focus on achieving urban integration, featuring a new design that replaces opaque facades with fully glazed surfaces to enhance connectivity with Plaza Isabel II.

The project also includes a partial demolition of the first-floor slab, allowing the creation of a double-height central atrium surrounded by a mezzanine. The renovation aims to optimise thermal performance while promoting aesthetic appeal through the installation of a secondary external layer intended to shade the glass facade. This design incorporates two large skylights to provide ample natural light to the ground floor.

In parallel, the council has begun the process to submit the new Municipal Market for administrative concession. The market will feature thirty stalls to cater to food and local commerce, establishing a vibrant hub for urban activity. Construction management has also been approved, with a budget of three hundred and six thousand two hundred and twenty-two euros and forty-eight cents. If funding allows, construction could commence by the end of September, with a target completion date of the first quarter of twenty twenty-seven.
