A shooting incident in Torrevieja has resulted in the death of a thirty-year-old Turkish man, believed to be Caner Koçer, a notable figure within the Dalton crime gang, known for extortion and drug trafficking. The Guardia Civil is conducting an investigation to clarify the circumstances surrounding the murder, which appears to be linked to ongoing rivalries between criminal factions, namely Dalton and Los Caspers.

Reports indicate that the shooting occurred in broad daylight, with witnesses recalling a mother and child being present nearby at the time. The victim was found alive but succumbed to his injuries shortly after emergency services arrived at the scene. The incident took place at the busy intersection of Pedro Lorca and Rambla Juan Mateo, a popular area that was crowded with afternoon diners just moments before.

Following the shooting, there was a pursuit involving local police and suspects in a vehicle, which broke through a security barrier while attempting to escape. Two suspects were detained shortly after, with a third individual arrested for aiding in their getaway. Investigators are still determining whether the suspects may have attempted to use false identities during their flight.

This incident adds to a series of violent altercations linked to organised crime in the region, emphasising the recent increase in tension between gangs, particularly during the summer months.
