The Town Hall of Torrevieja has presented a new project for a multi-functional flood park in the Aguas Nuevas urbanisation. Covering an area of four thousand one hundred square metres, this initiative aims to improve sustainable stormwater management and create an accessible urban green space for recreational activities. The project will unfold in two phases, with the first phase estimated to cost over one million two hundred thousand euros, starting in September with a completion time of nine months.

The park is designed to retain up to two thousand square metres of stormwater, which will be drained through a controlled system. It will include sports facilities such as a skatepark, and a naturalised green area with over one thousand five hundred square metres dedicated to rain gardens and sustainable drainage solutions, focusing on local vegetation and biodiversity enhancement.

The project, presented by Mayor Eduardo Dolón and other key officials, will also improve urban accessibility with new pedestrian paths linking essential areas. Paths will be constructed with permeable materials, ensuring integration with the surrounding green spaces.

Future enhancements are planned, including a second phase that will expand the park with new facilities like children’s play areas and outdoor exercise zones. This initiative underscores the commitment of the Town Hall and Agamed to sustainable development, innovative green infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
