Los Alcázares has significantly bolstered its municipal security by expanding its video surveillance network to include twenty-two strategically positioned closed circuit television cameras across the town. This comprehensive system aims to enhance resident safety and modernise policing capabilities, covering all entrances and exits to the municipality. It particularly focuses on areas with high foot traffic, such as the busy Plaza del Espejo and the historic Torre del Rame.

Councillor for New Technologies, Eufemio Pacheco, explained that the CCTV system serves multiple purposes that extend beyond basic security monitoring. He stated, ‘The main objective of this measure is to strengthen citizen safety, improve traffic control and facilitate the work of the Local Police, who now have more effective technological tools for monitoring incidents and preventing crime.’

The current network of twenty-two cameras marks the beginning of Los Alcázares’ security modernisation efforts. The Department of New Technologies is actively collaborating with the Local Police to identify additional strategic locations that would benefit from further CCTV coverage. This initiative forms part of a wider plan aimed at providing the town with a smart, secure, and modern infrastructure.

M. Carmen Guevara, Councillor for Police of the Los Alcázares Town Council, reaffirmed the Town Council’s commitment to security, stating, ‘We are committed to technological solutions that protect our residents and improve the quality of life in the municipality.’
