Tragedy struck Los Nietos Beach on Monday afternoon when emergency services were called to report a possible drowning. The emergency services received a call at three thirty-three PM, prompting the immediate dispatch of two ambulances. One ambulance belonged to the Cartagena Civil Protection and the other was from Basic Life Support services of six one one.
Upon arrival, the medical teams found an eighty-three-year-old man in cardiac arrest. Despite nearly an hour of resuscitation attempts, the emergency responders were unable to revive him. The man was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident has brought to light the dangers of swimming, particularly for the elderly. Local authorities remind beachgoers to exercise caution while enjoying the water.
The family of the deceased has been informed, and our condolences go out to them during this difficult time.
