José Antonio Rovira, the Education Minister of the Valencia Region, held an important meeting with Torrevieja’s mayor, Eduardo Dolón, and local education councillor, Ricardo Recuero. This meeting took place in the Town Hall’s Plenary Hall and included representatives from Parent Associations of local schools. The discussions focused on the immediate and future educational needs of Torrevieja’s community.

During the meeting, Minister Rovira announced several key initiatives reflecting the Valencian Government’s commitment to improving and modernising educational infrastructure. He confirmed that the responsibilities of the Edificant Plan for the IES Las Lagunas will be delegated imminently to facilitate an extensive renovation costing over nine million euros, which will be funded by the Ministry of Education.

Additionally, the minister revealed that the authorisation for extending the technical specifications for the CEIP Virgen del Carmen project would be completed shortly. This approval will enable the commencement of works to address roof replacements and repairs to patios and other structural issues. Furthermore, a new secondary school, IES Number Six “Eras de la Sal”, will also be fully funded by the Ministry, with an initial budget allocation of two hundred fifty thousand euros.

Finally, Minister Rovira discussed crucial issues such as school pressure and transport problems with Parent Association representatives. He expressed a commitment to working collaboratively with schools and families to address these challenges. Mayor Dolón expressed gratitude for the minister’s visit and the dedication of the Ministry to the educational needs of Torrevieja.
