In Cartagena, a violent confrontation erupted between two families over a tree located on one family’s property. The dispute escalated when one family reportedly coerced the other to remove the tree due to perceived disturbances it caused. On June twenty-first, this demand transformed into a physical altercation that saw the victim thrown to the ground and assaulted.

During the attack, a seventy-eight-year-old man intervened to stop the violence but was stabbed in the back. He was urgently transported to the General University Hospital of Cartagena, where doctors performed surgery to remove his spleen. He is currently recovering in the Intensive Care Unit.

Following the incident, the National Police conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of four individuals connected to the stabbing. These individuals face charges of assault, threats, coercion, and attempted homicide. Police also recovered the knife used in the attack, which belonged to the main aggressor.

The perpetrators have been placed in judicial custody, with the assailant facing immediate imprisonment as the investigation continues. The police remain vigilant in ensuring community safety in the Los Mateos neighbourhood.
