A seventy-year-old woman experienced a cardiac arrest while swimming at Roquetas Beach in Guardamar del Segura on Thursday. The Emergency Information and Coordination Centre received the alarm shortly before eleven o’clock in the morning, prompting the immediate dispatch of a SAMU medical unit to the scene. Medical personnel performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other life-supporting techniques, successfully stabilising her condition.

Following her resuscitation, the woman was transported by ambulance to Torrevieja University Hospital. This incident follows another similar occurrence just a day earlier, when a different woman suffered a cardiac arrest at the natural pools along the Juan Aparicio promenade. Unfortunately, she did not survive the transfer to the hospital.

In a related incident last month, a seventy-year-old man died while swimming at Els Tossals Beach, also in Guardamar del Segura. Emergency services were alerted around half past eleven, responding to reports of an unconscious individual floating in the water. The alert occurred at the northern end of the beach, just a short distance from the boundary with La Marina beach in Elche.

These incidents highlight the potential dangers associated with swimming, particularly for older individuals. Beachgoers are encouraged to be vigilant and seek immediate assistance if someone shows signs of distress in the water.
