The Orihuela Coast Council has successfully finished repairs on a section of stone wall, known as a revetment, located along the coastline between Playa de la Glea and Aguamarina, a cove lying between the Cabo Roig and Campoamor urbanisations. The repair work commenced on the ninth of June and concluded yesterday, addressing the structural integrity of this essential infrastructure.

Councilman Manuel Mestre highlighted the importance of the repairs, stating that the wall serves to protect the foundation of the pedestrian walkway, which facilitates safe transit for residents and visitors traversing between the two beaches. He emphasised that the maintenance of this area is crucial for both safety and accessibility.

The affected section had suffered displacement of stones due to erosion and runoff from rainfall and irrigation, posing a risk to the wall’s stability. In response, the repair works involved repositioning the stones to their original locations, thereby reinforcing the structure.

Mestre affirmed that this endeavour not only secures the infrastructure but also helps preserve the coastal landscape, promoting a safer and more enjoyable environment for all who visit the area.
