The Civil Guard successfully rescued a seventy-one-year-old man from drowning at La Mata beach on Tuesday. The incident occurred around five fifteen in the afternoon when local authorities received a report of a potential drowning. Upon arriving at the scene, officers spotted the man floating face up approximately one hundred metres from the shore. The strong currents in the area posed a significant risk.

Officers acted swiftly by removing their uniforms and entering the water to reach the unconscious man. They began resuscitation efforts in the water and managed to bring the man safely to the beach, where they continued to stabilise him with the support of emergency medical services from SAMU.

The victim regained consciousness during the rescue, expressing gratitude to the officers who saved him. He was subsequently transported to the University Hospital of Torrevieja for medical evaluation and remains in stable condition.
