Joint patrols by Spanish and French police officers have commenced in Alicante as part of the European Police Stations Project. Launched in June, the initiative aims to improve safety for tourists and provide assistance to foreign citizens in high-traffic areas during the summer season. French agents will also patrol nearby Benidorm from the first to the fifteenth of August.

The European Police Stations Project began in two thousand eight and has seen participation from several countries, including Portugal, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands. Alicante is joining the project for the fifth consecutive year, reflecting its positive reception by both tourists and police forces.

The joint patrols focus on crime prevention, offering assistance to French nationals, and enhancing the overall feeling of safety among tourists. French officers will wear their standard uniforms, making identification easier for visitors.

Additionally, a reciprocal exchange of officers is planned, allowing Spanish police to support local agencies in France, Germany, Portugal, Italy, and the Netherlands during summer holidays. This collaborative approach aims to bolster transnational police cooperation and improve service to international tourists.
