The Local Government Board of Torrevieja is set to approve a significant rehabilitation project for the old La Purísima kindergarten and the neighbouring Francisco Vallejos Coral building. Both structures have been unused for several years and require extensive repairs. The renovation is budgeted at three million three hundred fifty-nine thousand and sixty-four euros and is expected to play a crucial role in transforming the area into vibrant community spaces.

Domingo Paredes, the councillor responsible for the Heritage department, highlighted that this initiative will enhance the historical integrity of the buildings while integrating modern, sustainable design elements. Key plans include maintaining the original facades, ensuring full accessibility, and addressing current structural deficiencies

The proposed rehabilitation involves demolishing existing structures to rebuild them while recovering their original appearance. This renovation will create flexible, multifunctional spaces including university study rooms, a multipurpose venue, innovation hubs, and areas for coworking and workshops, effectively addressing the needs of the local community.

Additionally, the project will include a photovoltaic installation to promote energy self-consumption and sustainability. Original features of the buildings will be preserved to maintain connections with the city’s rich historical past, reinforcing the project’s significance as a cultural and economic catalyst for the area.
