The Local Government Board of Torrevieja has officially approved the Basic and Execution Project for the rehabilitation of La Plasa, with a total budget of eight million nine hundred eighty thousand one hundred thirty-one euros including VAT. This approval marks the beginning of the procurement process for the works, expected to be carried out this year. Rosario Martínez Chazarra, the councillor for Trade and Hospitality, confirmed that the initial funding is backed by an allocation of four point five million euros in the Municipal Budgets for twenty twenty-five.

Upon completion of the tendering process, the project will progress according to the established timeline. The proposal, drafted by the engineering team of Cayetano Bernabé and Associates alongside Jorge Juan Bernabé Brotons and Salvador Moreno Zambudio was prepared at a cost of three hundred eight thousand five hundred ninety-six euros including VAT. The comprehensive transformation of the building includes interior redistribution and enhanced accessibility, as well as a redesigned urban environment.

The aim of the project is to turn La Plasa into an architectural icon and a centre for commercial and social dynamism within Torrevieja. Notably, the proposed uses for the second and third floors have been removed, allowing for completely open spaces that can adapt to various activities. With these rehabilitation efforts, La Plasa will not only regain its historical value but will also evolve into a modern, functional space that aligns with the city’s future needs.
