In a significant drug bust, customs officials have intercepted one hundred and seventy kilograms of cocaine concealed inside vehicle catalysts imported from Brazil. The shipment was intended for a company in Callosa de Segura, Alicante. Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the case, facing charges of smuggling, public health violations, and being part of a criminal organisation.

The investigation commenced at the start of twenty twenty-three, when customs operatives discovered anomalies in the importation of vehicle catalysts from Brazil suspected of being contaminated with cocaine. Following analysis, the focus shifted to an importer with irregular economic activities, revealing connections to a suspected criminal group operating in Callosa del Segura.

Upon further investigation, authorities located several industrial warehouses believed to serve as distribution centres for the illegal operation. They identified key individuals involved, including administrators and partners of businesses associated with the group, who were reportedly under the direction of a leader currently untraceable in South America.

In early April, a container arrived at the port of Valencia, sparking suspicions due to its similarities to previous shipments linked to the same group. On April twenty-third, officials examined the contents, discovering a large quantity of cocaine hidden within multiple catalysts. In addition to the narcotics, cash and numerous electronic devices were confiscated. The investigation remains ongoing, with prospects for additional arrests.
