The Civil Guard has detained two men following a shooting incident in Orihuela Costa, where a twenty-one-year-old victim suffered a serious head injury. The shooting occurred on the night of the thirteenth of May near a leisure area close to the Zenia Boulevard shopping centre. Authorities found the victim gravely injured, prompting immediate medical attention after which he was admitted to intensive care in critical condition.

Investigators have been working diligently on the case. They collected testimonies from witnesses, analysed physical evidence, and explored the victim’s surroundings. Additionally, a bag containing a revolver, live ammunition, and the victim’s mobile phone were located in an abandoned area, leading to the arrest of the suspects aged twenty-seven and forty-five.

One of the suspects was apprehended in Orihuela Costa, while the other was detained in Pilar de la Horadada. The authorities are treating the incident as an attempted homicide. A search was also conducted at the residence of one of the suspects as part of the investigation led by the Organic Judicial Police Unit of the Alicante Civil Guard, supported by the Criminalistics Laboratory.

The Second Instruction Court of Orihuela has ordered provisional imprisonment for the primary suspect, considered to be the shooter, without bail. The second suspect has been released on provisional terms with restrictions on leaving the country, suspected of covering the crime.
